OSLO – Take that 2016 Olympics!
Only nine months into his first term in office, President Barack Obama has won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize. The news was stunning to say the least, considering Obama's presidency began less than two weeks before the Feb. 1 nomination deadline.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee, which handed out the highly prestigious award on Friday, said the prize was given to encourage Obama's initiatives to reduce nuclear arms, ease tensions with the Muslim world and stress diplomacy and cooperation rather than unilateralism, according to the Associated Press.
But was it awarded too soon?

What do you think about this unexpected award?
