Study Finds Americans Think Fox News Is The Most Trustworthy News Network

A recent poll conducted by Quinnipiac University shows that the most trusted news network in the United States is Fox News.

Compared to other news networks, 29 percent of respondents said they trust Fox News the most. CNN was considered the second-most trustworthy source of news with 22 percent, followed by CBS News and NBC News at 10 percent, ABC News at 8 percent and MSNBC at 7 percent.

When asked if they trust the journalistic coverage provided by Fox News, 20 percent said they trust the network “a great deal” and 35 percent said “somewhat,” Politico reported.

Despite Fox News’ positive ratings, respondents said network television is generally less trustworthy than it was during Walter Cronkite’s heyday.

The poll was decidedly split along party lines. Fifty-eight percent of Republicans said they trusted Fox News the most. Democrats, on the other hand, favored CNN by 32 percent. A mere 3 percent of Democrat respondents said they trusted Fox News the most.

Though Fox News is considered the most trusted network, research from Fairleigh Dickinson University suggested those who use it as their primary source of news are less informed on domestic and foreign affairs than those who don’t watch the news at all.

Quinnipiac University’s poll was conducted with 1,286 registered voters.
