Student Slams Sen. Ted Cruz for Using Him in Anti-Obamacare Speech (Video)

During his fake filibuster speech earlier this week against Obamacare, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) misrepresented Rutgers University student John Connelly.

The Tea Party senator made reference to Connelly, who was mentioned in a Wall Street Journal article about unemployment and people under 25 years old.

In the article, Connelly talks about student debt and unemployment challenges, but never mentions Obamacare.

However, Sen. Cruz claimed that Connelly's problems were cause by Obamacare, noted

Connolly appeared MSNBC's "The Ed Show" today and said that Obamacare was not to blame as Sen. Cruz claimed (video below).

“It seems kind of bizarre that he’s blaming a law that was passed in 2010 on trends that go back well past 2007,” said Connelly.

Connelly, who has never met or spoken to Sen. Cruz, said that he and his younger sister have actually benefited from Obamacare, which he called a "sweet deal."

"It’s kind of shameful for [Sen. Cruz] to act as if he is acting in the best interest of young folks, while pushing for his own agenda," added Connelly.
