Trump Appointee Fired Over Comments About Ivanka

President Donald Trump has reportedly fired a national security advisor for the "awkward" remarks he made about the president's daughter Ivanka at a private event.

According to the Daily Mail, Craig Deare, whom President Trump appointed to run the Western Hemisphere division of the National Security Council, has been fired from his position after he allegedly made lewd comments about Ivanka Trump and criticized the president.

A source who attended a private event at the Wilson Center, during which the comments were made, says Deare reportedly criticized Trump's administration for the rough start to relations with Mexico and its policies on Latin America. He also allegedly complained about not being involved in policy discussion about relations with Mexico. The source requested to remain anonymous.

Deare allegedly also claimed that members of Trump's inner circle, such as his son-in-law and adviser, Jared Kushner, and chief strategist Steve Bannon, have neglected to consult with the National Security Council over White House policies and mentioned "dysfunction in the White House."

The person who attended the event said that Deare also made comments about how attractive he finds Trump's daughter, Ivanka, which they described as "awkward."

Trump has made comments about Ivanka's appearance himself in the past. In an interview on "The View" in 2006, he said, "She does have a very nice figure," adding, "I've said that if Ivanka weren't my daughter, perhaps I would be dating her."

Deare reportedly was frustrated that Trump signed an executive order to begin construction of the wall on the Mexican border without warning, according to Hollywood Life.

A senior White House official confirmed that Deare had been let go from his position. He is the second senior official to leave the NSC in the last week. General Michael Flynn resigned from his position as national security advisor after it was revealed that he discussed sanctions with Russia before Trump's inauguration, then misled the president and Vice President about his conversations.

According to Hollywood Life, Deare will return to his position at the National Defense University, where has been on the staff since 2001.
