Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) told Fox News Sunday that there may be another vote brought up for universal gun background checks (video below).
“The only thing we’ve asked for is for people to read the bill,” Sen. Manchin. ”I truly believe that if we have time to sell the bill and if people will read the bill," noted MediaBistro.com.
Fox News host Chris Wallace said that Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA), who co-wrote the last gun control proposal with Sen. Manchin, had moved on.
However, Sen. Manchin claimed that was not the case.
“I don’t think he’s done. I was with Pat last night, and Pat’s totally committed to this bill. And I believe that with all my heart. And we’re gonna work this bill," said Sen. Manchin.
While Sen. Manchin wants Americans to read the bill, it's unlikely that they will.
Last week, Ring Of Fire Radio host Mike Papantonio reported on the anti-intellectualism in America (video below), where almost half the country's adults under age 44 do not read one book in a given year.
“Chances are, if you are one of those corporate media-following bone heads who still believe that weapons of mass destruction were found in Iraq, or Saddam Hussein blew up the Twin Towers, or Obama is a secret Muslim, or Obama wants to take your guns, or Obama has FEMA prison camps set up for Teabag Republicans, then search no further,” said Papantonio.
“You truly are the undereducated, child-like, impressionable, irrational, dangerous cog in America’s political system that puts Democracy most at risk.”
