Sarah Palin has reportedly bought a house in Arizona, and political watchers are speculating it could all be part of a bid to run for a soon-to-be-open Senate seat.
According to KNXV-TV in Phoenix, public records show a company called Safari Investments LLC purchased the home in Scottsdale for $1,695,000 in cash. Speculation is that Palin is behind the LLC. The station said a black SUV with Alaska plates was seen at the house this past weekend.
Bristol Palin recently bought a house in Arizona earlier this year, so perhaps Palin wants to have a second home to be near her daughter.
But the political web site The State Column reports it could be part of a strategy for Palin to run for the seat being vacated by Republican Sen. Jon Kyl, who said he will not seek reelection in 2012.
So far only one candidate has officially announced his intention to run for the seat, Rep. Jeff Flake. Some are speculating that recovering Rep. Gabrielle Giffords could easily win if she runs, but it is not clear if she is interested or healthy enough to serve.
A recent poll showed Palin and Giffords as the leading candidates for the seat.
