Long before he was chosen as Mitt Romney's running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan was attacking President Obama’s $787 billion stimulus bill, back in 2009.
Rep. Ryan said in 2009: “This trillion dollar spending bill misses the mark on all counts. This is not a crisis we can spend and borrow our way out of. that is how we got here in the first place.”
But while Rep. Ryan condemned the stimulus, he also asked the U.S. Energy Secretary, four times, for millions of stimulus dollars for some Wisconsin groups, reports the Boston Globe.
Thanks to Rep. Ryan's lobbying for stimulus funds, the Wisconsin Energy Conservation Corporation got a $20 million check to help improve energy efficiency in businesses and homes.
The Energy Center of Wisconsin got $240,000, while the Center and the Milwaukee Area Technical College got an addiitonal $740,364.
Rep. Ryan actually praised the energy initiatives, while he applied for the funds, but would continue to condemn stimulus spending from 2009 to 2011.
