Republican Rep. Trent Franks of Arizona claimed yesterday that President Obama was allowing Israel to be threatened by Iran and their future nuclear weapon.
Franks made his comments on the Family Research Council's (FRC) radio program "Washington Watch," which was hosted by FRC president Tony Perkins (video below), noted RightWingWatch.org.
Franks and Perkins talked about a possible pre-emptive strike by Israel against Iran, and President Obama's alleged failure to support Israel.
I sometimes, Tony, do not have the intellectual wattage to overcome the bewilderment in my heart when an American president stands by and lets Israel, our most vital ally in the world, be threatened by a dangerous, hellish regime like exists in Iran today and allows the potential of jihad, jihad to put their finger on the nuclear button. It is a disgrace that literally defies description in the English language.
Politfact notes that in 2008 then-Sen. Obama stated told the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) that he would "implement a Memorandum of Understanding that provides $30 billion in assistance to Israel over the next decade -- investments to Israel's security that will not be tied to any other nation."
According to Politifact in 2012, President Obama has kept his word on the aid.
Foreign Policy noted in 2012 that President Obama has provided "record-high levels of Foreign Military Financing (FMF)" to Israel.
Iran did get massive aid from the U.S., under President Reagan's administration which shipped Iran over 1,500 missles in the 1980s, noted PBS.
