Rep. Trent Franks Compares Abortion to Slavery of Black People (Audio)

Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz., appeared on the "In The Market With Janet Parshall" radio show yesterday where he compared abortion to the slavery of black people.

Franks introduced a bill that would ban abortions after 20 weeks in June and claimed at the time: “The incidents of rape resulting in pregnancy are very low."

According to, Franks told Parshall: "If we see the horror of what this really is, if we fully take it in as a collective human family, and we still turn a blind eye to it, I wonder then what hope remains ... We wonder how our forbearers dehumanized African-Americans, we wonder and say, ‘couldn’t they see the humanity in them?’ But they didn’t. And today we think they were so blind, yet we are staggering blind in our own generation" (audio below).

Franks did not mention that he refused to allow African-American Eleanor Holmes Norton, who is the Washington D.C. delegate to Congress, to speak in 2012 during a debate about a bill that would ban abortions after 20 weeks in D.C., without exception for rape or incest, noted The Washington Post.
