Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) appeared on the Family Research Council's radio program “Washington Watch” on Wednesday and claimed President Obama had a "plan" to change the name of the NFL's Washington Redskins, but not a plan to stop ISIS, the Middle Eastern terrorist group.
“I was speaking to a group of people today at a lunch, one person asked me about this foolishness where the president is trying to change the name of the Washington Redskins," stated Rep. Scalise, noted RightWingWatch.org (audio below).
"And it is a sad state of affairs for our commander-in-chief that we know what President Obama’s plan is for the name of the Washington Redskins, he wants to change it, we know his plan, but we don’t know what his plan is to deal with a major threat to American national security,” added Rep. Scalise.
According to NBC News, President Obama has already bombed ISIS in Iraq and was actually referring to formulating a "strategy" to handle ISIS within Syria, which is allies with two nuclear powers, China and Russia, noted CNN.
President Obama doesn't have a "plan" to change the Redskins' name, noted Politifact.com.
MediaMatters.org notes that conservative media outlets such as Fox News have repeatedly distorted and made false claims about President Obama's statements regarding ISIS, which he has vowed to "degrade and destroy."
Rep. Scalise also recalled President Reagan’s foreign policy which he called: “We win, they lose."
"And he won with that attitude," claimed Rep. Scalise.
However, Rep Scalise forgot to mention the Reagan administration's scandalous "Iran-Contra Affair," its refusal to condemn South Africa's racist apartheid and President Reagan's order for a quick exit from Lebanon after a terrorist attack on U.S. troops, noted ForeignPolicy.com earlier this year.
Rep. Scalise and Family Research Council president Tony Perkins also mocked President Obama for the time he spent helping poor people in Chicago as a "community organizer."
