Obama Is 'Kim Jong POTUS,' Says Rep. Steve King On Twitter

Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, compared President Barack Obama to North Korea's Kim Jong Un after the U.S. Parent and Trademark Office canceled six trademark registrations for the Washington Redskins Wednesday.

The PTO said the ruling was based on evidence that the name is “disparaging to Native Americans.”

“Obama raids Redskins by weaponizing USPTO. Cancels Redskins logo! Free people will not tolerate a Kim Jong POTUS,” King tweeted Wednesday night.

The comment garnered a great deal of criticism, if not utter confusion.

“What part of Section 2(a) of the Trademark Act of 1946 is dictatorial, @SteveKingIA? Or is any bill written 70+ yrs ago bad?” one user wrote.

“@SteveKingIA Do you just pick word cards from different piles to make these sentences?” another inquired.

“@SteveKingIA Did you get hacked?” one woman asked.

The Redskins trademark attorney Bob Raskopf said he is confident that the controversial trademarks will stay on the federal register and will not be canceled.
