Reince Priebus Responds To Donald Trump Becoming De Facto GOP 2016 Presidential Nominee

The chairman of the Republican National Committee, Reince Priebus, made a surprising announcement on the heels of Donald Trump seemingly becoming the de facto GOP 2016 presidential nominee on Tuesday night.

Although everyone has assumed that Priebus and the GOP elites were rooting against Trump, the RNC chairmen pledged to fully support Trump going forward.

It will be interesting to see how a marriage between Trump and the establishment wing of the Republican party will work.

Shortly after Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas announced that he was suspending his 2016 GOP presidential campaign following disappointing results in Indiana, Ohio Gov. John Kasich issued his own announcement.

"Tonight's results are not going to alter Gov. Kasich's campaign plans," said John Weaver, Kasich's chief strategist. "Our strategy has been and continues to be one that involves winning the nomination at an open convention."

Both announcements came on the heels of multiple news organizations reporting that Cruz and Kasich had been soundly defeated by Trump in the Indiana GOP primary.
