While President Barack Obama is busy defending the national healthcare website that’s left millions frustrated because of its glitches, Republican Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul made one thing clear during his interview with Sean Hannity Tuesday night: liberals have no idea how capitalism works.
After host Hannity played a montage of President Barack Obama and other officials explaining why Obamacare is still good despite its glitches, Paul said the left has a “fundamental misunderstanding” of capitalism.
“Liberals have no idea of how capitalism works,” he said. “They have no idea why, when you go to Walmart, products are cheap, how they get from one point to the other, how they’re distributed in such a cheap fashion.”
While President Obama attempted damage control during a speech at the Rose Garden Monday saying that the “product is good,” and that “its high quality and its affordable,” Paul insisted if its so good, “why do they have to advertise to get you to do it?”
“If it’s supposedly free and cheaper and it’s going to be the best thing since sliced bread, why do we have to convince people to go buy it?” Paul asked.
“It’s a disaster, but they don’t understand the intricacies of how the profit motive and the efficiencies that go in with distribution and trade, and how you can get something, a t-shirt, now for $9 because of global trade, efficiencies in the marketplace,” the Republican Sen. added. “The government can never duplicate that because the government is inherently inefficient.”
