Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky called for term limits in Congress during a speech on Saturday.
Paul, who is currently seeking the Republican nomination for president, spoke out in support of term limits at the Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference in Mackinac Island, Michigan, Detroit Free Press reported.
“We should term limit them all, fumigate the place and bring them home,” Paul said.
He added that both Republicans and Democrats overstay their welcome and ultimately become a part of an overcrowded system.
Paul also spoke about opponent Donald Trump and what he anticipates to be a “reshuffling of numbers” following the second GOP debate.
“I think we've seen the crest of Donald Trump and hopefully we've seen the last of him as someone leading in the primaries,” Paul told reporters before the speech. “I think he's yesterday's news. I don't think he rises to the bar of someone we should consider.”
