President Obama's Lead Grows in Three Swing States: Florida, Ohio, Virginia

It appears that President Obama's speech (or perhaps Bill Clinton's) at the Democratic National Convention continues to help as his lead has increased in three swing states, reports the Washington Post.

President Obama is leading GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney by five points in Florida and Virginia, and by seven points in Ohio, according to new polls by Marist College, NBC News and the Wall Street Journal.

In a recent nationwide poll by Fox News, President Obama has also pulled ahead of Romney, 47 to 43 percent.

In Ohio, President Obama leads Romney 50 percent to 43 percent , and 49 percent to 44 percent in both Florida and Virginia. If President Obama can win two of the three swing states, that puts him within very close striking distance of winning in November.

No Republican has won the White House, without winning Ohio, in modern political history.
