President Obama is 'Empowering Radical Islamists' Claims Rep. Louie Gohmert

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) recently accused President Obama of “empowering radical Islamists."

“As someone whose cousins were Christian missionaries in Africa, I have a difficult time watching the current administration appear to spend more time empowering radical Islamists in various countries than defending or protecting Christians,” Rep. Gohmert told the conspiracy website WorldNet Daily.

Rep. Gohmert did not give any evidence of President Obama "empowering radical Islamists," but did say President George W. Bush was a good example to follow.

“If this administration went after Boko Haram the way Bush went after the Taliban, a few hundred special ops and intelligence personnel could be embedded, give air support, then totally defeat them without repeating the Bush administration’s mistake when they added tens of thousands of troops that became occupiers, and engaged in nation-building,” added Rep. Gohmert. “We can and should help Nigerians defeat radical Islamists, then get out."

However, the Taliban was never defeated by the Bush administration and continues to terrorize people to this day.

The Associated Press reported that Taliban fighters attacked several Afghanistan provinces this week and killed at least 10 policemen and three civilians. Additionally, the bodies of eight more dead policeman were recently found by villagers.

Rep. Gohmert also failed to mention that Boko Haram was formed back in 2002 in the Nigerian city of Maiduguri, during the Bush administration, reported France24.com.

According to ThinkProgress.org, President Obama announced today that he was sending 80 U.S. soldiers into Nigeria as part of an international effort to help find the 276 abducted schoolgirls.
