Actress and activist Daryl Hannah was arrested in front of the White House along with several other environmental protesters, who were rallying against the planned Keystone XL pipeline, which would reach from Canada to the U.S. Gulf Coast.
Hannah sat down on the pavement near the White House and was taken away in handcuffs after she refused orders from U.S. Park Police to move.
Hannah and the protesters want to be free from dependence on fossil fuels and called for clean energy investments.They hope President Barack Obama will not bow to oil companies.

She has been arrested in the past for environmental causes and has long advocated green living. Many years ago, Hannah left Hollywood for a quiet retreat in the Rocky Mountains, where she lives on her own sources of water and power. Her cars run on leftover grease from fast-food restaurants and she has a compost toilet.
Hannah has lived with John F, Kennedy Jr. and singer Jackson Browne, who is famous for his activism.
