A creepy and disturbing find in the former home of Libyan strongman Moammar Khadafy -- a scrapbook of photos of Condoleezza Rice, suggesting he had a serious crush on the former Secretary of State.
The Daily Mail reports that angry Libyans stumbled upon the album as they ransacked Khadafy's compound.
The album features dozens of pictures of Rice.
Rice did not respond to requests from news agencies to comment on the photo album.
But State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said, "I don't need to see the photos. But bizarre and creepy are good adjectives to describe much of Khadafy's behavior. So (it) doesn't surprise me. It's deeply bizarre and deeply creepy, though, if it is as you described."
This is not the first sign that Khadafy had a thing for Rice. In 2007 he said, "I support my darling black African woman. I admire and am very proud of the way she leans back and gives orders to the Arab leaders. ... Leezza, Leezza, Leezza. ... I love her very much. I admire her, and I'm proud of her, because she's a black woman of African origin."
When they finally met in 2008, Khadafy showered her with gifts including a diamond ring -- in all the gifts totaled $212,000. U.S. rules prohibited Rice from keeping them.
