Tea Party hero Ben Carson gave a speech at the Values Voter Summit Friday declaring that Obamacare is "the worst thing that has happened in this nation since slavery.”
“It is slavery because it aims to make all of us subservient to the government,” said Carson. “It was never about health care. It was about control.”
"That's why, when this administration took office, it didn't matter that the country was going off the cliff economically, all forces were directed toward getting this legislation passed," Carson continued.
The retired pediatric neurosurgeon compared the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act to legislation passed by Vladimir Lenin.
"Why did they want to pass it so badly?" he asked. “Socialized medicine is the keystone in the establishment of a socialist state.”
He said that any compulsory program from which the executive and legislative branch are exempt “that’s not America, that’s Russia.”
"It is the most valuable thing you have," he said, referring to health. "Everything else pales into insignificance, compared to your health. And that's the reason why your health should be controlled by you and not the government."
Most of his speech centered on prolife and family issues. He said American has lost the right to call societies of the past “heathen.” He asked married couples with children who are considering divorce to reconsider.
The summit, sponsored by the anti-gay marriage group the Family Research Council, also featured speakers like Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, radio host Glenn Beck and the Duggar Family of the TLC show “19 Kids And Counting.”
