An unidentified State Department official claims that President Obama will use military action against Syria, regardless of how Congress votes when it returns to Washington D.C. next week.
According to Fox News, the official says that everyone in the National Security Council and the president have agreed on military action.
“That’s going to happen, anyway,” the anonymous official reportedly told Fox News’ James Rosen.
Other Obama administration officials would not confirm this claim, but did say there is the option for the president to bomb Syria without congressional approval.
According to the unnamed official, Secretary of State John Kerry’s dramatic statements about Syria on Friday were made after “fully consulting with the White House.”
An embarrassing picture of Kerry having dinner with Syria President Assad in 2009 recently surfaced.
However, last Friday, Kerry compared his former dinner companion to “Adolf Hitler and Saddam Hussein.”
