President Obama continued to signal that he's willing to talk to countries the Bush administration refused to, indicating at the Summit of the Americas that he's willing to open wider diplomatic channels with countries like Venezuala and Cuba. "The United States seeks a new beginning with Cuba," said Obama in a speech.
In addition, Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez, who infamously referred to President Bush as the devil, seemed to treat Obama warmly, giving him a book as a present (the book detailed American colonialism in Latin America). In response, Obama joked that he should have given Chavez one of the books he's written in exchange.
