President Barack Obama mocked the GOP’s harsh response to CNBC’s third Republican primary debate.
Obama made the remarks during a speech at a Democratic National Committee (DNC) event in New York City on Nov. 2, NBC News reports.
“Every one of these candidates says, 'Obama's weak, Putin's kicking sand in his face. When I talk to Putin, he's going to straighten out,'" he said.
“And then it turns out, they can’t handle a bunch of CNBC moderators," he continued. "If you can’t handle those guys, I don’t think the Chinese and the Russians are going to be too worried about you.”
Obama's comments are in response to the complaints of many GOP presidential candidates following the CNBC debate, The Hill reports. The Republican presidential hopefuls accused the moderators of being unfair and criticized their line of questioning.
The president’s remarks also came just three days after the Republican National Committee (RNC) canceled the fourth debate in an effort to protest NBC, which was set to moderate the event with Telemundo, NBC News notes.
