MSNBC Host's Tirade Goes Viral (Video)

An MSNBC host's rant is going viral after her comments about Republican Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin left a representative of the American Principles Project’s Latino Partnership speechless (video below).

Melissa Harris-Perry was hosting a discussion about Ryan and his possible rise to speaker of the House when Alfonso Aguilar, a conservative Latino activist, started to praise Ryan.

Aguilar began by saying how Ryan is a "hard worker, who, when he goes to Washington, not only works with Republicans but Democrats."

"Paul Ryan is someone who has supported immigration reform, and has worked with [Democratic Rep.] Luis Gutierrez [of Illinois] who is respectful and speaks very highly of Paul Ryan," Aguilar added. "This is somebody [Ryan] who is trying to govern."

At this point Harris-Perry cut off Aguilar and focused in on the term "hard worker":

"Alfonso I feel you, but I just want to pause on one thing because I don't disagree with you that I actually think Mr. Ryan is a great choice for this role, but I want us to be super careful when we use the language 'hard worker' because, I keep an image of folks working in cotton fields on my office wall because it is a reminder about what hard work looks like.

"I feel you on that he's a hard worker, I do. But in the context of relative privilege, and I just want to point out that when you talk about work-life balance and being a hard worker, the moms who don’t have health care who are working. But, we don’t call them hard workers. We call them failures. We call them people who are sucking off the system.”

Aguilar told the show's host that, "That is very unfair, we cannot generalize about the Republican Party."

"That's true, not all Republicans," Harris-Perry responded.
