During Monday night's debate, Mitt Romney said, once again, that Syria's only route to the sea is through Iran.
The full quote reads: "Syria is Iran's only ally in the Arab world. It's their route to the sea. It's the route for them to arm Hezbollah in Lebanon, which threatens, of course, our ally, Israel. And so seeing Syria remove Assad is a very high priority for us."
According to the Washington Post, Iran has "direct access to waterways" with 1,100 miles of coastline on the Gulf of Oman.
On top of that, anyone with access to a map can see that Iran does not share a border with Syria.
If Iran wanted to travel to Syria for their coastline, they would find only 111 miles of it.
Romney has stated the "route to the sea" quote over five times, despite news sources criticizing him for his error.
