Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee blamed Iran for his recent remarks that President Barack Obama was going to march "Israelis" to the "door of the oven."
Huckabee told Breitbart.com on July 25:
"This president’s foreign policy is the most feckless in American history. He is so naive he would trust the Iranians and he would take the Israelis and basically march them to the door of the oven."
During a fundraiser at the West Bank settlement of Shiloh in Israel this week, Huckabee blamed Iran for his comments about Obama, notes Forward.com:
"It was the Iranians who invoked the imagery and very word Holocaust, they have said that they have developed missiles that will deliver Israel to the Holocaust. Those are their words. Israeli officials regularly remind the people of Israel and the people of the world that the Iranians’ intent is to wipe Israel off the map."
GOP presidential candidate Jeb Bush said in July that Huckabee was "wrong" for making his oven remark.
“I think we need to tone down the rhetoric for sure,” Bush told journalists in Orlando, Florida, noted The Hill. “The use of that kind of language, it’s just wrong."
“This is not the way we’re going to win elections and that’s not how we’re going to solve problems,” Bush stated.
