One day after Michelle Obama unveiled the USDA's new nutritional plate to banish childhood obesity, her husband happily indulged openly in two “specialty” hot dogs at Rudy’s Famous Chili Dogs, before visiting the Chrysler factory in Toledo, OH, on June 7. He even added a sinful side order of chili and fries, according to MailOnline.com.
And, the Prez belittled the vegetable. (Didn’t somebody say ketchup is a vegetable?). According to USA Today, he rebuked one of the hosts for ordering ketchup, saying, “…By the way, as an aficionado of hot dogs, you shouldn't put ketchup on hot dogs... I'm trying to teach my girls.” http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1394099/Obama-eats-2-chili-dogs-...
On June 6, Michelle Obama unveiled the USDA's new healthy-eating guide, which replaces the famous 'My Pyramid' with a plate divided into four nutritional quadrants: fruits, vegetables, grains and proteins. http://www.opposingviews.com/i/goodbye-food-pyramid-hello-food-plate
Was this a blatant public display of rebellion by Barack or a sign of marital discord? Nah, the President apparently just likes hot dogs; but certainly his timing was inept.
Or, could Obama be responding to the chiding of California’s ex-Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger who said the President needs to “do something about his skinny legs…and scrawny arms”?
