Following news that President Donald Trump allegedly had an affair with a Playboy Playmate, first lady Melania Trump was spotted riding in a separate vehicle from her husband and walking to Marine One without him (video below).
According to The Inquisitr, Melania Trump skipped her usual walk across the South Lawn with her husband after reports surfaced that President Trump had a second affair shortly after the birth of their son, Barron.
Karen McDougal, a former Playboy Playmate of the Year, claimed in a story that broke on Feb. 16 that she had a nine-month adulterous affair with the president, during which she said he showed her Melania Trump's bedroom in Trump Tower. The affair reportedly took place from June 2006 to April 2007.
After the reports surfaced, the first lady broke with tradition when she took a separate vehicle from President Trump, rather than walking with him across the South Lawn.
Following Marine One's arrival at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland, Melania Trump ascended the stairs separately from President Trump.
The first lady's communications director, Stephanie Grishman, said in a statement that because of her busy schedule, "it was easier to meet him on the plane."
According to CNN, a White House spokesperson denied President Trump's affair with McDougal in a statement.
"This is an old story that is just more fake news," the spokesperson said in a statement. "The President says he never had a relationship with McDougal."
The first lady previously broke with the tradition when she drove separately from her husband to the U.S. Capitol to attend the State of the Union address on Jan. 30. The address was Melania Trump's first public event following reports that porn star Stormy Daniels allegedly received payment to cover up an alleged affair she had with President Trump in 2006, four months after she gave birth to their son, Barron.
The White House said that she chose to drive separately to the event so that she could attend a reception with guests joining her in the first lady's box in order to connect with them on a more personal level.
The president denied that the affair with Daniels took place, though it was reported that his attorney, Michael Cohen, had paid the porn star $130,000 to keep quiet about the affair. Cohen issued a statement on Daniels' behalf, calling the report "absolutely false." However, Cohen later admitted to paying Daniels the money out of his own pocket.
Sources close to the Trumps said that Melania Trump was "blindsided" by the reports and was "furious" with President Trump.
