Sales of Ivanka Trump's perfume are so high, it attained the top two spots in Amazon's Best Sellers for Women's Eau de Parfum.
The item's popularity isn't following the fate of the other products in her line that have been dropped by the department store chain Nordstrom. Her products reportedly weren't selling well at the retail store chain, which prompted the Nordstrom decision to stop carrying the line.
The act triggered an angry response from President Donald Trump, who tweeted that the large retailer was treating her "so unfairly."
However, the president's retort did not stop TJ Maxx and other retailers from following suit to drop the Ivanka Trump product line.
Soon after Nordstrom announced its decision, senior adviser to the President Kellyanne Conway urged people to "go buy Ivanka's stuff" during a TV interview at the White House.
Federal law stipulates it is illegal to use a public position for individual gain, including "the endorsement of any product, service, or enterprise" that is for the "private gain of friends, relatives, or persons with whom the employee is affiliated in a nongovernmental capacity."
Conway was reportedly censured by the White House for promoting Ivanka's products on television.
White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer told members of the media when questioned about the matter that Conway "has been counseled on that subject and that's it."
According to The Independent, sales of the Ivanka Trump brand dropped by almost a third in the past financial year. The brand was hit especially hard in the weeks before her father was elected president.
Recently, however, her perfume occupied the top two spots in Amazon's best sellers list in the category of Women's Eau de Parfum: one spot for the perfume spray and the other for the roll-on fragrance version.
The perfume is being sold as an "alluring and feminine floral Oriental" scent that is a "symbol of grace and beauty," CNN reports.
Best selling items on Amazon are ranked on the basis of their popularity versus other items in the category. The online retail store updates its best-seller rankings hourly.
Observers say public controversy over her father's election as president has impacted Ivanka's line of shoes, clothing and other women's products.
Indeed, critics of her father have organized and launched a #GrabYourWallets campaign, which seeks to boycott brands linked to the Trump family name as well as the reservation of rooms at Trump hotels and resorts.
