Former Bush Aide John P. Wheeler III Murdered in Delaware

John P. Wheeler III, a man who served as an aide for President George Bush and was chairman of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund while Ronald Regan was in office, has been found murdered.

Last seen exiting an Amtrak train from Washington at the Wilmington, DE, station last Tuesday night, John P. Wheeler III’s body was found in a Delaware landfill. Police have confirmed Wheeler was murdered.

John P. Wheeler, 66, was a decorated war Vietnam war veteran and graduated from the West Point Class of 1966. He had a law degree from Yale and a business degree from Harvard. More recently Wheeler worked as a business turnaround consultant.

Devastating. Wheeler’s attorney and friend Bayard Marin said of him: “This is just not the kind of guy who gets murdered. This is not the kind of guy you find in a landfill.”

Another friend, James Fallows, a writer for The Atlantic, wrote a piece about his friend and said that John P. Wheeler III had just written him an email on Christmas. It was short and simple, but seemed to have presaged his looming death.
