The final obstacle standing in the way of Donald Trump being the last remaining GOP presidential candidate is now gone.
According to NBC News, John Kasich is planning to suspend his campaign on Wednesday.
The Ohio governor was the only non-Trump competitor left in the race after Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas suspended his campaign on Tuesday night.
Cruz and Kasich lost to Trump badly in the Indiana primary – seemingly leading both to realize that they have no viable path to the nomination.
For what it’s worth, as of Tuesday evening, Kasich was still pledging not to drop out of the race.
