Joe Biden Says Hillary Clinton Wasn't A Great Candidate

Former Vice President Joe Biden revealed he never thought former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was a great presidential candidate -- but that he was.

"I never thought she was a great candidate," admitted Biden while speaking at the SALT hedge fund conference in Las Vegas on May 18, CNN reports. "I thought I was a great candidate."

Still, Biden stressed he also thinks, "Hillary would have been a really good president."

When questioned whether or not he will run for president in 2020, Biden said he still needed to prioritize healing with his family after their son's death. Biden also added he had pressing financial commitments to deal with, like paying off his mortgage.

That doesn't mean he's ruling the idea out.

"I may very well do it," he said, adding only if he is able to meet his other obligations by that point.

"At this point, no one in my family or I have made the judgment to run," Biden added.

Biden also offered his opinions on other matters, such as the current tensions between Democrats and Republicans.

"Argue like hell ... but show some respect," he advised members of Congress.

In addition, Biden also reminisced about his time working with President Barack Obama.

He revealed he initially turned the vice president position down, but eventually took it up and grew to love the role.

"It was the best decision I ever made," he said.

Biden also spoke fondly of his former colleague, Obama.

When he noted Obama went eight years "without a single scandal," it drew applause from the audience.

While he admitted the administration "made mistakes" and he'd have "shouting matches" with Obama at times, he called the man "absolutely totally competent."

Despite being pegged as the poorest man in the Senate, Biden gave his $200,000 speaking fee for the event to charity.

Many on social media agreed with Biden's remarks about Clinton, mourning the fact Biden never ran.

"He would have won if he'd have run," wrote one Daily Mail reader. "Literally anyone with the baggage that Hillary had would have beaten Trump. The shockingly low turnout shows how little people cared about both candidates."

Others didn't like Biden's comments.

"Biden has a need to continue taking his meds, and get over the thoughts of being President... rest and wait for his meds to take affect," added another. "Regret syndrome (missed opportunities) can be short lived when he checks and balance himself. much has to do with the aging process.... Biden made the choices.... don't hate on Hillary.... he should run for mayor or city councilman in his city... Keep it mov'in Biden, ...these thoughts of being President, they too, shall pass...geeezzzz!"
