Hillary Clinton to Obama: Be Like Bill

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has some advice for President Obama following his admitted "shellacking" in last week's elections -- do what her husband did following a similar Republican midterm victory.

After Newt Gingrich's GOP dealt Bill Clinton an electoral blow in 1994, Clinton overcame the midterm defeat and pushed through his agenda.

"I’m absolutely confident he can do that," Clinton said on ABC's "Nightline" about the current president. The trick, she said, will be to make it look like he's moving to the middle while sticking to his agenda.

"I don’t think that Bill changed his principles or changed his objectives or really reversed course in any way," Clinton said. "I think what he did was take a very clear-eyed assessment of what was going to be possible with the Congress after the election, and moved on every front that he could to get things done. And I think that's what you'll see President Obama doing."

Asked how she thinks the new Tea Party Congressional members will react, Clinton said, "I don't know, because I don't know them," adding, "I’m going to get to know them."
