Hillary Clinton Expresses Support for Banning Assault Weapons (Video)

Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton appeared at a town hall forum on CNN today where she expressed support for a ban on assault weapons.

Clinton was asked by a teacher if she thought reinstating a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines "would do any good."

"Yes, I do," Clinton replied (video below). "We make hard choices and we balance competing values all the time.

“We cannot let a minority of people, and that’s what it is, a minority of people, hold a viewpoint that terrorizes the majority of people,” Clinton added, according to

"The vast majority of Americans, even law-abiding gun owners, want background checks that work," Clinton said. "Information that is shared immediately, and an awareness that we’re going to have to do a better job protecting the vast majority of our citizens, including our children, from that very very very small group.”

Later during an interview today on Fox News, Clinton was asked repeatedly about the terrorist attack in Benghazi in 2012.

For eight minutes, Fox News host Bret Baier peppered Clinton with Benghazi questions, notes

“Contrary to some of the reports, we did not have real time video that enabled us to follow what was going on the ground,” said Clinton. “It wasn't until sometime later when we got the security camera video from the compound that we were able to analyze.”

Baier also asked Clinton about National Security Adviser Susan Rice's Benghazi talking points involving an inflammatory video causing the terrorist attack.

"We were not just monitoring what was happening in Benghazi," Clinton stated. "But remember we had a very dangerous assault on our embassy in Cairo that same day, which was clearly linked to that video ... that the intelligence community thought at the time was a spontaneous protest."
