Herman Cain is denying a new claim of inappropriate sexual behavior, this one coming from a woman who said she had a long affair with the embattled Republican presidential candidate.
Georgia woman Ginger White told Fox 5 in Atlanta that she had a 13-year affair with Cain that ended eight months ago.
“It was pretty simple,” White said. “It wasn't complicated. I was aware that he was married. And I was also aware I was involved in a very inappropriate situation, relationship.”
She said while their physical relationship ended just before he announced his candidacy, they have remained friends -- until today, that is.
“I think it is safe to say that after this interview, that will be the end of it," she said. Yes, we have a friendship now.”
White said she had no intention of coming forward, but a tipster called several media outlets with the story, so White felt she should speak out before the story leaked.
“I wanted to give my side, before it was thrown out there and made out to be something filthy,” said White. “Some people will look at this and say that is exactly what it is. I'm sorry for that. I'm not proud. I didn't want to come out with this. I did not.”
Cain went on CNN before the Fox station could air the interview on Monday to deny the charges. He said White was "an acquaintance that I thought was a friend... But the accusation that I had a 13-year affair with her? No."
