The Mueller report was perhaps one of the most highly anticipated documents in recent memory. The report, which has still not been released in full, has the power to end the Trump presidency or clear his name from all wrongdoing concerning the confirmed Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. Although the Attorney General released a four-page summary, which covers about 1 percent of the some 400-page report, he said that Trump would not be charged with any crime.
This news exploded onto the scene and immediately sparked a reaction from celebrities. Alec Baldwin who plays President Trump on Saturday Night Live responded by calling the sitting president “the devil.”
Social media was inundated with celebrity opinions following the news that the attorney general would not be charging Trump with any crimes following the Mueller report.
For example, Alec Baldwin wrote in full: “You don’t need Mueller’s report or Barr’s conflict of interest or Sean Hannity’s imbecility to make clear one unifying thing: Trump is the Devil.”
Baldwin was not alone in his criticism of Trump. Singer and actor Cher also joined the fray, writing:
“I have not, nor will I change my opinion of Trump, his evil, or his ties to Russia. He is up to his neck in crime & corruption.”
Director Rob Reiner, famous for his movies A Few Good Men and Stand by Me, also bashed Trump on Twitter following the release of the Mueller report to the Attorney General.
“Robert Mueller did not exonerate the President. The House voted 420-0 to release the report. Trump doesn’t want it released. So, McConnell won’t bring it up for a vote. Considering this is the most corrupt President in U.S. history, there must be some pretty bad s*** in there.”
Meanwhile, one of the stars of Queer Eye, Jonathan Van Ness wrote, “Mueller was only allowed to look at potential collusion or obstruction. The money laundering and tax evasion charges are coming sweeties don’t you worry. If we waited 7 years for Game of Thrones winter to come, we can wait for this justice a bit longer.”
Celebrities are confident that something is still coming the way of President Trump although there have yet to be any charges although Trump’s attorney general pick has the Mueller report.
Another celebrity, Ike Barinholtz, wrote: “I wonder if the Mueller report will have anything really explosive in it, like Donald Trump standing in front of reporters and asking Russia to hack Hillary Clinton’s emails.”
Mia Farrow also joined the Twitter maelstrom, writing, “I wonder why Kushner felt the need to set up back channel at the Russian Embassy.”
Bette Midler even got involved, writing: “No collusion. Sooooo.. why did Trump spend an hour with Putin with no American in the room? 26 Russian agents deported from US but no collusion. Ok. As they say in LA, suck it up and VOTE BLUE in 2020!”
She then wrote, “Mueller’s report finds no evidence showing Trump Team of collusion with Russia, but stops short of “exonerating” Trump on obstruction of justice. Knowing Trump, he probably tried to do exactly that. Two more years of chaos, race baiting, grifters, con artist, shame/fear. Sad.”
