During a campaign event last week, former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson, a Republican running for Senate, was asked to count his homes.
“Three,” Thompson answered. Thompson said he had a farm in Elroy, Wisconsin, a house in Madison, Wisconsin and a home near Walt Disney World in Florida.
However, the Thompson campaign later admitted that Thompson also had a $1.3 million condo near Lake Wisconsin, which he forgot, reported the Milwaukee Wisconsin Journal Sentinel.
Earlier this year, Thompson reported that he had about $13 million in assets. In 2001, he served as the U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary and then worked for the Washington D.C. law firm of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld until he quit earlier this year to run for U.S. Senate.
Over the past ten years, Thompson bought and sold nine townhouses in and around Alexandria, VA.
Thompson faces Democratic U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin in November.
