George Lopez Says He Has A Serious Message For Trump

Comedian George Lopez had some harsh words for President Donald Trump, calling out the U.S. leader for pushing the U.S. toward needless conflict with Mexico by trying to make that country pay for the construction of a border wall, when Lopez said the U.S. faces much more pressing issues.

"A wall, bro?" Lopez said to TMZ. "A wall, when you don't have water in Flint, and you've got people starving? ... We need more things than a wall."

The Latino comedian also said that he was not surprised that Mexican President Enrique Pena-Nieto and Trump canceled a scheduled meeting on Jan. 26 over a disagreement as to who would pay for the wall, after Pena-Nieto clarified that Mexico "does not believe in walls" and "will not pay for any wall," according to CNN.

According to Lopez, Americans "lose more jobs to other countries" than to Mexico, and stealing jobs should not be a large concern, since anyone who loses their job to an immigrant can "take it back," notes TMZ.

"I'm an American, and my heritage is Mexico," Lopez added. "Mexico has its own issues, and Mexico has always been kind of a partner of the United States. So in six days, the f***ing tangerine [Trump] has us almost at war with Mexico, for some wall, that if he f***ing did his homework, he'd realize that more people are leaving the United States than are coming to the United States."

Lopez's comments come shortly after Pena-Nieto publicly vowed to increase protections to his citizens as well as to Mexican immigrants living in the U.S.

"Mexico offers its friendship to the people of the United States and expresses its wish to arrive at agreements with its government, deals that will be in favor of Mexico and the Mexicans," the Mexican president said, according to CNN.

Meanwhile, Trump told Congress that he intends to address the "serious, serious issue" and "national problem" of border security, stating that the majority of illegal immigration "is coming from our Southern border.

"Unless Mexico will treat the US fairly, with respect, such a meeting is fruitless, and I want to go a different route," Trump added. "I have no choice."
