Generation Opportunity Uses Creepy Ads to Scare College Students Away From Obamacare (Video)

The conservative organization Generation Opportunity is trying to scare college students away from Obamacare with two new creepy ads that were released on the web today.

One ad features a weird "Uncle Sam" character looking between a woman's legs and holding a speculum. The other ad is an equally strange prostate exam.

Both ads (videos below) warn viewers not to “let government play doctor,” a decades-old GOP scare tactic that dates back to when Republicans fought against Medicare in the 1960s.

According to Yahoo! News, Generation Opportunity is paying around $750,000 to scare college students into not signing up for the Obamacare health exchanges. Generation Opportunity will even visit college campuses as part of their fearmongering.

Generation Opportunity hopes that if college students don't sign up for Obamacare, the lack of enrollment will help damage the health care reform program, which will extend health insurance coverage to about 30 million uninsured Americans.

“What we’re trying to communicate is, ‘No, you’re actually not required to buy health insurance. You might have to pay a fine, but that’s going to be cheaper for you and better for you,” Generation Opportunity’s president Evan Feinberg told Yahoo! News.

“If young people do opt out en mass, it will put the law in a bind, for sure. If it means they have to repeal it because it doesn’t work and that ends up crippling the law, well fine. Then they have to make some changes or repeal the law to make it work.”

Feinberg made no mention of the 30 million uninsured Americans that Obamacare will help, but did admit that Generation Opportunity has ties to the billionaire Koch brothers (who oppose health care for Americans, deny global warming, oppose worker's unions and advocate tax breaks for the top one percent).
