The Respect for Marriage Coalition recently began a television ad campaign featuring support for gay marriage from several public figures, including General Colin Powell, former Vice President Dick Cheney and President Obama (video below).
The ad also includes Former First Lady Laura Bush, who told CNN's Larry King that she supported gay marriage (video below) and wrote about it in her autobiography.
According to the Dallas Morning News, Bush spokeswoman Anne MacDonald said in a statement on Wednesday that Bush “did not approve of her inclusion in this advertisement nor is she associated with the group that made the ad in any way. When she became aware of the advertisement last night, we requested that the group remove her from it."
In her 2010 interview with Larry King, Bush said: “When couples are committed to each other and love each other then they ought to have the same sort of rights that everyone has.”
No word, yet, if the Respect for Marriage Coalition will remove Bush from the ad.
