Carly Fiorina, the only female Republican presidential candidate, blasted fellow candidate Donald Trump over his comments about Fox News host Megyn Kelly.
Trump made the following remarks about Kelly during an interview with CNN the day after he participated in the Fox News-sponsored GOP debate in which Kelly was a moderator (video below).
“I don’t have a lot of respect for Megyn Kelly,” Trump said. “She’s a lightweight. And you know, she came out there reading her little script and trying to ah you know be tough and be sharp and when you meet her you realize she’s not very tough and she’s not very sharp. She’s zippo.
“Well, I just don’t respect her as a journalist. I have no respect for her. I don’t think she’s very good. I think she’s highly overrated.
“But when I came out there, you know what I am doing, I’m not getting paid for this … You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever.”
Fiorina took to Twitter to express how she feels toward Trump for what is being considered a remark aimed at Kelly’s menstrual cycle and hormonal state.
"Mr. Trump: There. Is. No. Excuse.," Fiorina tweeted. "I stand with @megynkelly."
Fiorina was the first candidate to publicly condemn Trump’s comments, reports The Blaze.
Trump’s comments have resulted in a loss for his campaign. He was disinvited to speak at the influential RedState Gathering this evening by the website’s editor, Erick Erickson, because he did not “want someone on stage who gets a hostile question from a lady and his first inclination is to imply it was hormonal,” Opposing Views reported.
Trump called Erickson “weak” and “pathetic” for disinviting him and said it is “just another example of weakness through being politically correct.”
