Fighting Back Against the War on Women

Outrage is growing over anti-choice bills that target not only access to abortion but - much more broadly - women's health care.

People are no longer asking, "What can I do to make my concerns known." Across the country, pro-choice supporters are taking to the streets to make their concerns known by joining in the Walk for Choice on Saturday, February 26.

Grassroots rallies are being held from 12 - 3 pm on Saturday, to respond to anti-choice bills that were passed by the U.S. House of Representatives and will be considered by the U.S. Senate when it reconvenes next week.

Spurred by outrage at bills piling on more restrictions on access to abortion and eliminating funding for women's clinics generally and Planned Parenthood specifically, peaceful Walk for Choice 2011 rallies are planned in cities including Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston, Columbus and Washington D.C. Click here for the current list.

Walks are still being added so be sure to check back if you don't see your city on the list.

RCRC activists will be out representing the pro-faith pro-choice community. In Ohio, Reverend Richard Venus, the Ohio RCRC Board chair, will speak at the rally in Columbus about the moral issues and human dignity involved in reproductive choice and justice.

The bills aimed at defunding reproductive health care and adding more abortion restrictions are not only about health care, as important as that is, he says. "We're talking about what is right - what we ought to be doing. Morally and ethically, women deserve to be able to make choices about health care when they need it."

We know you are concerned about this massive assault on women and families so if you can't make it to one of the Walks on Saturday, you can still make a difference by contacting your U.S. senators.

The bills will be considered by the Senate when it reconvenes next week. It is critical for you to contact both of your senators now.
