Over 700 undocumented immigrants, all of them children, were reportedly just placed in Tennessee by the federal government.
Incredibly, the federal government apparently did not notify the state government of Tennessee that the children would be placed there. The governor of Tennessee simply found out via a notification on the Department of Health and Human Services' website.
Inquisitr reports, "Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam claims that he had only learned of the drop-off after seeing the notification on the website. Haslam also claimed that he had previously asked the Obama administration to let him know if any illegal immigrants were to be put into his state."
Inquisitr has also reported that the federal government is placing displaced illegal immigrants in several other states in addition to Tennessee. They write, "Iowa, Arizona, and many other states are becoming temporary homes for the children while they wait to be processed."
In a letter to President Obama and Secretary of Health and Human Services Sylvia Burwell, Governor Haslam wrote, “It is unacceptable that we become aware via a posting on the HHS website that 760 unaccompanied children have been released by the Office of Refugee Resettlement to sponsors in Tennessee without my administration’s knowledge.”
He continued, “Not only was our state not informed prior to any of the children being brought here, I still have not been contacted and have no information about these individuals or their sponsors other than what was posted on the HHS website and subsequently reported by media.”
The Governor remains unsure as to how these child immigrants will be handled by the state, and how this situation will affect schools and townships.
The Washington Times reports that United States sponsors have taken in over 30,000 illegal immigrants in 2014 so far.
