Ex-Madam Kristin Davis to Run Against NYC Comptroller Hopeful Eliot Spritzer

Kristin Davis, an ex-madam who claimed to have supplied former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer with escorts, has announced plans to run as his opponent in New York City’s comptroller election.

“This is going to be the funnest campaign ever,” Davis said. “I’ve been waiting for my day to face [Spitzer] for five years.”

Davis is apparently eager to get back at Spitzer, who emerged from the scandal untouched. Davis, however, spent four months in jail on Rikers Island and two and half years on probation. She called the difference in punishment hypocritical.

“I came out penniless and nothing happened to him,” Davis said.

Davis will run as a libertarian and describes herself as a “feminist, entrepreneur and former Wall Street Hedge Fund Vice President." Her campaign web site touts the ex-madam as a “fiscal watchdog for the New York taxpayer.”

Davis is also be the only candidate who publicly supports the legalization and taxation of marijuana, which she said will close New York City’s budget deficit.

Though Davis is focusing on her connection to Spitzer, she has been in the running since April. She also tried running in 2012, directly after the Spitzer scandal, though she did not meet the 50,000-signature requirement.
