Erica Lafferty, the daughter of slain Sandy Hook school principal Dawn Hochsprung, tried to call the 14 Republican senators who threatened to filibuster the gun control package on Tuesday (video below).
According to NBC Connecticut, when senators would not take her calls, Lafferty tweeted a photo of her sister dressed as a bride kissing her mother’s cheek. The picture included the caption:"I don’t get one of these at my wedding in June."
"I'll never see my mom again because she was gunned down in Sandy Hook. I don't deserve to be heard?" she also tweeted.
Delaware Gov. Dannel Malloy also tweeted the senators to call Lafferty,, reports MSNBC.
Gov. Malloy tweeted: "Please call @E_Laffs2 back. The families deserve to be heard, and they deserve a vote."
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), who opposes the gun control bill, did call Lafferty by phone on Tuesday afternoon, according to a source.
Ultimately, the filibuster failed as enough Republicans joined Democrats to put the bill to a vote.
