Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump asked his supporters in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Feb. 1 to “knock the crap out of” out of any hecklers armed with tomatoes (video below).
The GOP frontrunner spoke at a last-minute rally the day of the Iowa caucus when he read a note from his “wonderful security guys" warning about protesters with tomatoes; he was almost hit by a tomato-thrower on Jan. 26.
“So, if you see somebody with a tomato, knock the crap out of them, would you? Seriously,” Trump stated, notes TIME.
"Just knock the hell- I promise you I will pay for the legal fees, I promise, I promise," Trump added. "It won't be so much because the courts agree with us too."
Trump's tough talk has played well with white evangelical Christians, according to a poll released on Jan. 27 by the Public Research Religion Institute.
The survey found that 53 percent of white evangelical Protestants have a favorable view of Trump, compared to 37 percent in November 2015.
Additionally, 41 percent of these voters had a negative view of the Republican candidate in contrast to 56 percent in November.
