Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump says he thinks President Barack Obama hates Israel.
The comment came during an Oct. 29 campaign stop in Reno, Nevada, after someone in the crowd of 4,000 shouted “Israel,” ABC News reports.
“I heard the beautiful name of Israel,” Trump responded.
He added that he would protect the country, telling the crowd “Israel is safe with this one,” while pointing to himself.
Trump also told the crowd he thought the Obama administration’s recent Iran nuclear deal “is so bad for Israel, so dangerous.”
“So many friends in Israel, they don't know what happened,” Trump said, according to CNN. “They have a president who -- they actually think Obama hates Israel. I think he does.”
It wasn’t the first time the billionaire real estate developer has taken a swipe at Obama over Israel.
In December 2014, shortly before he announced his candidacy for president, Trump retweeted a tweet sent to him that read simply, “Mr Trump, it is undeniable that Obama hates Israel.”
And prior to that, Trump appeared on Fox News and said he thought Obama treated U.S. enemies better than he treated Israel.
“Probably, maybe from the beginning, there has never been a greater enemy to Israel than Barack Obama. It’s incredible,” he said at the time, according to Arutz Sheva.
“The way he treats them. The way he’s speaking to them," he added. "I think, he treats our known enemies much better."
