Donald Trump, Mitt Romney Meet; Didn't Go Well

When Donald Trump met with Sarah Palin over the summer, they went out for the highest-profile pizza dinner ever. Earlier this month Trump took Rick Perry to one of the fanciest restaurants in New York City.

Mitt Romney made the pilgrimage to the city to meet with Trump on Monday. Romney walked away with an empty stomach and lukewarm praise.

The GOP presidential candidate slipped into Trump Tower without anyone spotting him, then had a sit-down with Trump in his office. The New York Daily News reports that the waiting media was promised a Q&A with Romney afterwards, but they were left hanging when Romney left by another exit.

ABC News reports Trump released a short email about the meeting:

“Both Governor Romney and I very much enjoyed the meeting. Many things were discussed of national and international interest. We both look forward to future meetings.”

He also told the Daily News, "It was a nice meeting. We had a good time."

Compare that to his gushing about Palin following their meeting, calling her "a terrific woman and a terrific friend," and calling his dinner with Perry "excellent."

It shouldn't come as a big surprise that Trump doesn't seem enthusiastic about Romney. In the past this is what he has said about him:

-- "I'm a much bigger businessman and have (a) much, much bigger net worth... than Mitt Romney."

-- "If you look at his record as governor, it wasn't totally stellar."

-- "His job production was not great at all. In fact, it was the third worst in the nation. There are some pretty negative things with respect to Mitt Romney, which frankly he's going to have to overcome."

So yeah, Trump apparently joins many, many other Republican candidates, past and present, who do not like Mitt Romney.
