First son Donald Trump Jr. sparked backlash after he blasted liberals in a tweet on July 4.
"Out of curiosity, what exactly are Big Govt, opprressive taxation, anti 2A left wing socialists celebrating today?" tweeted Donald Trump Jr., before later deleting the tweet.
Liberals responded to the tweet almost immediately.
Many were quick to point out the younger Trump's spelling error, The Hill reports.
"Also we might celebrate the ability of immigrant spelling bee contestants to know that ‘oppressive’ has only one "r", tweeted former U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, whom President Donald Trump fired earlier in 2017. "Build a wwallll."
Others responded to the tweet's message itself.
"I'm celebrating the people who founded the US Army, where I proudly served my country for 8 glorious years," tweeted one veteran. "I'm guessing you are golfing?"
"The #FourthofJuly, bonehead," added a second. "We're ALL Americans whether you and you pop think so or not. Our diversity makes America great (already)."
"Ideals like representative democracy for all, the idea of the US as a melting pot of different cultures, and freedom from mad kings," chimed in technology blogger Tom Coates. "Unlike you we're not celebrating millions suffering without healthcare, a system that only rewards the already rich, or automatic weapons."
"Hope for clean water, climate control, voting rights, worker's rights, reproductive rights and kindness not to send tweets like yours," quipped a fourth.
Trump Jr. also sparked controversy for another tweet the next day. In the tweet, he claimed a 15-year-old boy was behind the CNN meme featuring Trump attacking the news organization.
"So I guess they weren't effective threatening the admin so they go after & bully a 15 y/o?," he tweeted. "Seems in line w their 'standards' #CNNBlackmail."
But Andrew Kaczynski, a CNN reporter who interviewed the Reddit user responsible for the meme, said the individual was actually a middle-aged man.
"Need to point out again HanA**holeSolo is a middle aged man," the reporter tweeted. "People claiming he's 15 are wrong. Some are intentionally spreading this."
"Again. HanA------Solo is not 15 or anywhere close to it," he added again. "This is POTUS' son spreading misinformation."
CNN backed up Kaczynski's claims, the New York Daily News reports.
"Any assertion that the network blackmailed or coerced (the Reddit user) is false," it said. "The user, who is an adult male, not a 15-year-old boy, apologized and deleted his account before ever speaking with our reporter. CNN never made any deal, of any kind, with the user. CNN included its decision to withhold the user's identity in an effort to be completely transparent that there was no deal."
