Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump took to Twitter on Aug. 24 to denounce the return of Fox News Channel on-air personality Megyn Kelly’s return to her program after a vacation.

“@megynkelly must have had a terrible vacation, she is really off her game,” Trump tweeted out on Monday night during Kelly’s live program. “Was afraid to confront Dr. Cornel West. No clue on immigration!”

Another tweet from Trump read: “I liked The Kelly File much better without @megynkelly. Perhaps she could take another eleven day unscheduled vacation!”

Trump also retweeted a posting from another person’s account that called Kelly a “bimbo.”

“@mstanish53: @realDonaldTrump @megynkelly The bimbo back in town. I hope not for long,” the original tweet read.

After the first GOP presidential debate, aired on Fox News and co-moderated by Kelly, Trump has publicly derided the newswoman due to his objections to her questions about Trump’s past statements towards women. On Aug. 7, Trump made another controversial comment aimed at Kelly that was characterized as referring to menstruation.

After Kelly announced a break from her highly-rated program on Aug. 12, Trump took credit for her leave of absence. He said that FNC executives ordered Kelly to take a vacation, although a spokesperson for the network said Kelly’s vacation was planned months in advance, CNN noted.

The controversy appeared to become too much for Fox News chairman Roger Ailes, who personally called Trump to discuss the matter. CNN also reported that Trump and Ailes had cleared the air, but Trump’s most recent attack on Kelly may have set the relationship back again.

During her program on Aug. 10, Kelly addressed the controversy surrounding her debate appearance and Trump’s comments directed at her.

“I certainly will not apologize for doing good journalism,” she said. “So I’ll continue doing my job without fear or favor.”
