A Twitter exchange between an East Coast U.S. Senate candidate and a stripper on the West Coast is attracting tons of attention. Corey Booker of New Jersey tweeted back and forth with a stripper from Oregon, Lynsie Lee, after the two both appeared in a documentary about using Twitter.
Lee works at Casa Diablo in Portland, Ore., which bills itself as "the world's first vegan strip club."
Booker, 44, regularly uses Twitter to communicate with his followers although most of them probably do not receive the type of private messages that he sent Lee earlier this year.
“@CoryBooker you’re welcome to come stay in my bedroom if your home was affected by the hurricane . . . ;)” Lee tweeted in October, after Hurricane Sandy.
Lee then wrote in February: “@CoryBooker the west coast loves you (by west coast, I mean me) :).”
Booker direct-messaged her back, “ The East Coast loves you and by the East Coast I mean me.”
"Well now I'm blushing," Lee wrote back.
"It's only fair," Booker responded.
The exchange was published on BuzzFeed on Wednesday.
Booker maintained that the conversation was no big deal. "You guys might have some prurient interest," he said, "but at the end of the day this is about extending kindness to folks."
Lee also downplayed the incident. "I flirted with him publically, as I do with a lot of people," Lee said. "There was nothing secret or sexy about it."
All the attention might be good for Lee’s business, Fox News reported. "If you come to see me at (at)CasaDiablo tonight, bring your wallets. I'm prime meat for the next couple of days! ;)" she tweeted Thursday.
